The 'Christmas Tree' Hosta is a large, clump-forming perennial known for its thick, corrugated leaves and a shape that some say resembles a decorated evergreen. It features dark green centers with a creamy white margin that fades as the season progresses.
Plant Characteristics
Mature Size: The plant typically grows to be 18-23 inches tall, with a mature spread of 36-56 inches.
Foliage: Leaves are rounded, cupped, and heavily corrugated, offering good slug resistance due to their thick substance. The margin starts yellow in spring and fades to a creamy white later in the summer.
Flowers: Pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers appear on spikes in mid to late summer. These are followed by reddish-purple seed pods.
Hardiness Zone: It is hardy in USDA zones 3 to 9, making it suitable for a wide range of climates.
Sun Exposure: It performs best in partial to full shade. Morning sun is acceptable, but it should be sheltered from hot afternoon sun.
