Hudson Bay Hosta

The Shadowland® 'Hudson Bay' Hosta is a premium, award-winning perennial (2024 Hosta of the Year) recognized for its thick, slug-resistant, variegated leaves featuring creamy white centers, apple-green streaks, and wide, blue-green margins. Growing 2 feet tall and wide, it thrives in zones 3–9 and prefers part to full shade. 

Key Features and Care:

• Appearance: Large, heart-shaped leaves with intense color contrast; produces near-white flowers on 26-inch scapes in early summer.
• Light Requirements: Thrives in shade to part shade (0-6 hours of sun); too much sun can cause the blue color to turn green.
• Soil & Water: Requires moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. It has decent drought tolerance once established due to its heavy, thick leaves.
• Growth Habit: Forms a large, mounding, vigorous, and upright clump, making it ideal for specimen planting or borders.
• Maintenance: Low maintenance, but should be watered consistently in the first year and protected from deer, which may eat them.
• Spacing: Space plants 24 to 30 inches apart.
