The Hosta 'June Spirit' is a popular, medium-sized perennial known for its glossy, variegated leaves with a chartreuse-to-yellow center and wide, deep green margins. It is a sport of Hosta 'June Fever' and is valued for its attractive foliage and slug resistance. 

Key Characteristics

• Foliage: The leaves are heart-shaped, prominently veined, and have a distinctive glossy texture. The center is initially chartreuse and brightens to yellow when exposed to some sun, contrasted by a wide, blue-green to dark green edge.
• Size: It typically grows to a height of about 14 inches (20 inches when in flower) with a spread of around 26 inches at maturity.
• Flowers: Lovely lavender or purple, bell-shaped flowers bloom on tall scapes in mid to late summer.
• Hardiness Zone: It is hardy in USDA zones 3 through 9.
• Sun Tolerance: Best grown in part shade to full shade. Morning sun is ideal, as hot afternoon sun can burn the leaves, though it has good sun tolerance for a hosta with thick leaves.

• Soil: 'June Spirit' prefers evenly moist, organically rich, well-drained soil.
• Watering: Consistent moisture is important, especially during the first growing season. Water deeply in the morning to ensure good root development and allow the soil surface to dry before evening.
• Pests: It is considered a slug-resistant hosta due to its thick leaves. However, be mindful of other potential pests like deer and viral infections.
• Maintenance: It is a low-maintenance perennial that can be divided in spring or fall every 3-5 years if desired.
